Apostle Joshua Selman: How faith is placed in the name of Jesus

  1. By faith.

It must first become a consciousness within you. The first way to release the power that is in the name, is to carry the consciousness of everything the name captures until it becomes a conviction within your heart. Calling the name in ignorance is like practicing idolatry.
The name demands the knowledge of the holder of that name for the power to be released. Exercising faith in the name demands a functional relationship, a functional knowledge of the bearer of the name. It says, “but I know whom I have believed, I didn’t just believe him, I know whom I have believed and I am persuaded”.

You want the name of Jesus to work for you, you must labor in the spirit and by the word, until you carry the consciousness of the reputation that, that name represents, the Integrity that is back of that name, the authority of the name of Jesus.

Along side the consciousness of your oneness with him, this is the first key.
You will never invoke the power that is in the name until you carry the consciousness of the resources that have been invested in that name. The name does not fail because it bears the reputation of a God that does not fail. The only thing the name cannot do is what God cannot do. The name is an extension of God’s ability, God’s reputation.

  1. Faith filled declarations.

Now, the name can work because your speaking is not empty, you have believed, you have satisfied what the Bible calls “the spirit or the operation of Faith”.

2 Corinthians 4:13 It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.” With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak

What was the protocol? I believe.
The mistake is many of you are speaking, confessing, shouting, crying without the believing part. He says “I believed”. No matter how long I stay till I believe but if and when I do believe, he says therefore I have spoken we also in that same operation, we believe and therefore speak life, speak victory, speak that no situation and circumstance sustains the power to bring you down.
When you believe, then you speak and that in the name of Jesus.

In the name of Jesus means as touching God’s reputation. Every time you say in Jesus name, what you are saying is, I place the reputation of the Lord upon what I’m about to say.
In the name of Jesus is not a chant, you are invoking the reputation of the bearer of that name. In the name of Jesus means invoking the power of God over that statement.
In the name of Jesus means invoking your guarantor and your shorty.

A shorty is someone who is responsible for your behavior, your actions and your performance. So if I say “In the name of Jesus, let the sick place their hands because I have mentioned the name of Jesus, I have invoked the presence of the shorty, the one who is responsible for performance because the Bible says he performs the counsel of his messengers.
In the name of Jesus, is not an empty spiritual chant, you are invoking the presence of the bearer to come defend that which you are speaking in his name and consistent with his will.
In the name of Jesus means,  I place the honor and the reputation, I put pressure on the reputation of the bearer of this name.

Perhaps, you’ve heard me say it, the one who takes the glory should take the shame. I cannot take the shame while he takes the glory. He has to take everything.
This is what gives us confidence as we take audacious steps. It’s not that you are not aware whether failure or not can happen, the one who takes the glory must also take the shame.
“Lord, I am calling on your name in the midst of my family members, while they mock me, I hope you are taking the shame because the glory will still go to you. He cannot take the glory while I take the shame. He takes everything because he’s Lord of all, Lord of my shame, Lord of my glory.
You can walk to someone on a wheelchair and say “stand up” without feeling afraid. If it happens, the bearer of the name takes the glory. If it does not happen, the bearer of the name takes the shame.

Colossians  3:17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

The reputation of Jesus backs what I’m doing, his Integrity, his power, his track record stands by me as a support system. He says, it will affect the things that you say, it will affect the thing that you do, it will affect how you do it.
